My Coat That's Actually McCall's 5718

I finally finished McCall's 5718. In the previous posts, I referred to this as a Butterick pattern when it clearly says M5718. I don't know what I was thinking. I just had to laugh out loud when I looked at my blog. But here is my review of this coat. Pattern Description: Loose-fitting lined jacket or coat has yoke, stand or turned down collar, full-length raglan like sleeves, side front seams w/pockets, buttons & buttonhole closures. The sleeves for View C have cuffs and the pattern calls for multiple rows of topstitching which I did not do. (still may do it though) Pattern Sizing: 18-24 I made the 18
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Originally, I was going to make the jacket but I decided to do the coat version. I like the collar and the sleeves.
Fabric Used: I'm not sure what it's called. But I remember buying it on one of our shopping excursions in Atlanta a few years ago.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might make the jacket version of this. I have so many patterns I want to try out. Conclusion: I look forward to wearing this coat for our upcoming Spring weather. Tomorrow's forecast is 61 so I may not need to wear it. LOL!!
I have to say that I haven't purchased any new fabric so far this year, except for linings, (which doesn't count in my book). I am sewing from fabrics in my collection. This was one of my goals to not buy any until June. I've been tempted, of course. My daughter frequently sends swatch pictures from the various fabric sites along with photos from Nordstroms or Bloomingdales ,of what the fabric could be made into. So for now, I'm content to not buy anything. She has gifted fabrics to me (the latest just last week)! Now if i can just make good on No. 5 of the goal list.
LOL

Weekend Update

Here's what I managed to make over the weekend. OOP Butterick 4232 View C. The fabric is from Gail K's in Atlanta that was purchased over a year ago on one of my trips to visit my daughter. It was an easy to sew project.
It is semi-fitted, pullover, above hip top has long sleeves and stitched hems, flounce on the sleeves and back & front. You can't tell on the fabric print that the front flounce comes across. I think it's cute though. This is one of my replacement items for my wardrobe. I'll wear this with a cami underneath and slacks or a skirt. It's been great weather here the past few days with tomorrow (or today, it's after midnight now) forecasted to go as high as 64 degrees. YAY!! That is very unusual for northern Illinois in February! But we will take what we can get! Have a great sewing day!

Fabric Mart Purchase

This is my first purchase from Fabric Mart! I am very pleased! Everyone always sounds so happy when they get their orders from them! Of course I wanted to try them out so I just got two pieces. (I needed more fabrics! LOL) The one on the left is a Poly Charmeuse Floral Cream/Pewter and the other is a Rayon Lycra Matte Jersey in Charcoal, looks black on here. So I've already chosen the patterns I'm going to use for these.

In the mail also was Vogue Fabrics sale flyer! Starts this Sunday for the next two weeks! Maybe I'll go by there, huh. LOL!

New Fabrics

Here are fabrics I picked up Thursday afternoon at Joann's. My daughter and I met up during her break before parent/teacher conference. These fabrics are for tops/blouses except the yellow.
I found a solid white for a blouse since I recently realized I didn't have any in my wardrobe.
Now the yellow is an embroidered linen. that I just may whip up for now and wear with a shrug since we are still having 80 degree temperatures. And maybe I'll take it with me when I go to ATL in a couple of weeks! hmmm
All the patterns pictured here were already in my stash.

New Fabrics

Hi all.

This is fabric I purchased from Walmart last weekend. The animal print is a polyester, which will be a blouse. The solid is like moleskin, but the info on the end of the bolt just said polyester. It will be a skirt. Now in this photo, the fabrics don't match. In real life, they coordinate very well. There was some really cute fabrics there but I kept myself under control and only bought these two pieces. I might go back though, hehehe! I know I still need to post pictures of the last project...
