New Look 6868 - A Cute Top!

I made this last night! It was already cut out, but I was able to finish all the sewing. The fabric
is a lightweight cotton gauze print with gold thread throughout. Purchased last year from one of the Joann's sales.
View D is the one I chose. All of the tops are loose-fitting and have front pleats around the neck line and a neckband. This one has ties that are sewn, one each on the inside and outside of the front center. After everything is complete, you can either just flip out the tie from the inside or you may tie it. Also, this view has 3/4 length sleeves. I plan to make it again in the sleeveless version.

Here is a closeup of the neckline and the ties.

My husband and I went to see Star Trek earlier this evening. It was so good!

McCall's 5883 and OOP S5664

My first version of M5883
is complete and ready! I made this from stash fabric. It was easy to put together and I actually am making the other version in yellow. The top is a loose-fitting, pullover tunic with pleated front and self-fabric flowers. This is View A. View B of this top should be ready by tomorrow.

The skirt is also a stash fabric and was oh SO EASY! The color of the skirt brings out one of the colors in a top I made and posted about several weeks ago. This is a OOP by Simplicity 5664. A pull-on bias skirt. The skirt had only one pattern piece for both front and back! Super Easy!

I know I've been kind of missing but I was SO BUSY the past few weeks at work that I just did not have time to blog or sew. Last week I was able to get caught up at work and home. So yesterday I went to Hancocks because there was a McCall's pattern I wanted. Of course, they didn't have it! No surprise. But I sat down and looked through the book and found four others that I like. AND, they're 88 cents this weekend! (I wonder how the stores can do these pattern sales after I read on someone's blog that it costs like $40,000 to produce one pattern!!!!)

I've already cut out 5860 for two tops one in a yellow and another in an orange solid from my fabric collection. Planning to sew a skirt (not pictured) from an old New Look tonight! I've cut out two other projects as well. Hope to have pictures of a completed project or two tomorrow.

Happy Memorial Day!!

A Non-Sewing Weekend

I am just getting around to posting about my non-sewing weekend. I only managed to move patterns into a wicker hamper that at first I'd thought about throwing out. There are two that were used to store 'stuff'. So I emptied both throwing out things I didn't need and decided to store a variety of patterns that I don't intend to use right now. By no means is this my entire collection of patterns, only a fraction!
The fabrics I've shown here before just after purchasing. And plan to sew in the very near future. But that piece of fabric that is beneath the black/white print is on the wrong side! I don't know what I was thinking when I took this photo. The right side looks nothing like that! HAHA! None of these are to go together in an outfit, just for upcoming projects.
