Alana's Outfits

This is Alana, my grandbaby. I'm making two outfits for her upcoming birthday from the top two fabrics. The patterns were in a previous post. She will look precious. I will have pictures of her wearing them to share!

Fabric Stash

Just a fraction of my stash. I have these fabrics out so I can remember what I want to use for whatever my next sewing project will be. Oftentimes, I may buy something new and not use anything, but it's what I want to use up this summer. I've got a lot of ideas here. There are suits, skirts, dresses etc., in this pile of fabrics awaiting my attention. I'm gonna get really good at this blogging thing so I can show you some finished outfits!

Upcoming Projects

These are the next two sewing projects I plan for my granddaughter. I've got a couple more for myself but will post those later.

Just A Few Thoughts

I've been playing around on the blog to see what I could do but not posting. I wanted to see if I could show the picture of the one and only pattern I purchased last week from the sale at Joann's. It's Butterick 5027. No fabric purchased for this but will have to check the stash. I was really good only buying one!

But in trying to establish a routine of posting what I've been doing, over the weekend I made a jacket and skirt out of a black embroidered linen from Joann's. The jacket pattern was from a Style pattern that I've had for a few years (maybe more than a few since I'm not sure how long ago it's been since these patterns were available). It's a simple unlined jacket w/long sleeves and side slits, loop button closures, and the skirt was straight with zipper & back slit, from a McCall's suit pattern, also simple. It was cut out Saturday afternoon and completed late into the night. I wore it to church Sunday and received many compliments.

My First Blogger Post

Well, I have decided to go for it and begin posting. I don't know how this will all play out and if I'll be able to keep up, but I will try. I love to sew and would like to do more of it. I've been very inspired reading blogs about other fashion sewists; the construction techniques, fabrics and patterns used, and the photos!. All of which is very interesting because I do not have anyone in close contact geographically (except for my oldest daughter, but she's a new mom and hasn't had much time for sewing lately) who loves to sew and or purchase patterns/fabrics. This will be fun! Here goes!!!!!
