A Couple of Photos

Here are two finished outfits on the 'real me' LOL Anyway, like I said in the previous post, that print top was very comfortable. The slacks are from M5597 The skirt & blouse was made several weeks ago. The skirt is M5523, the blouse is a OOP Vogue pattern. I'll have to get better with my timer on the camera and pick another site in the house that I can place the camera so my head won't be cut off! LOL

Vogue Patterns

Vogue Patterns 1048 and 8491 are on my list for my next purchase. I already have fabric for 8491 in my collection awaiting the perfect pattern and I think that would be it!

A Few More Projects to Finish Up!

In addition to my attempts to complete two of my projects below, I also have agreed to make a jacket for my daughter using fabric that is like mine, the white on the left (she purchased some too) She has an event this weekend for work. She's making the pants out of a solid white. How did I get into this! LOL

Hopefully, I'll finish these two pieces this week. The animal print is for a blouse, which partially done and the solid below is a skirt that's complete except for the hem.

My sewing goals for this week: complete the blouse & skirt and make the jacket for my daughter. I'll keep you posted!

New Look 6702

This was a quick top to make. I started approximately 12:10 p.m. and was finished by 1:35 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Wore it to two birthday parties with brown slacks. I will post a picture of me in the outfit later.
I chose View A with the long sleeves. The pattern only had four pieces for this view, which was a plus to me. At first, the twist for the bodice was a bit tricky. I thought this would have to be set aside because of time constraints yesterday. But all came out well and it was very comfortable to wear.

Other New Fabrics

Yesterday I went to Walmart, and a black & white print caught my eye. But then I saw these two stretch jersey prints for tops. At the time, I didn't realize that the yellow & brown/black one would go with the fabric I'd bought from ATL, but it goes nicely. Both of these tops will go with a pair of slacks I managed to make a couple of weeks ago.

Then, I walked around the aisle and found this linen fabric. It has rayon in it and drapes very nice. It will be a suit. I must have had my camera set wrong because the color of this has more blue. Anyway, this was not the reason I went in Walmart. I always check out what they have in their fabric dept. though, hehe!

Fabrics

While in Atlanta this past weekend, we came upon a discount fabric store. Of course, I had to turn around and check it out. All the fabric prices seemed to be either $1.99 or $1.00 a yard. On the first day, I bought the white jacquard. It is suit weight. The gold is looks sort of like duiponi, it's not, but I will make it in a two-piece, probably top & skirt.

We went back over there on Monday and I purchased these two pieces. The yellowish gold is more of a lightweight rayon, and it will be a two-piece, skirt/top. The blue is a bit more heavier and will be a suit.

The name of the fabric store I believe is Fabric Warehouse. This one is on Memorial Drive, (I think) in the Avondale shopping area. There is another store which we visited several years ago and were planning to go there this trip until they told us they were affiliated, in Stone Mountain next to K&G. They also had some Pellon interfacings for 50 cents/yard.

New Patterns

These are the latest I've added to my pattern collection. I like the coat on the Butterick 5189. On the See & Sew, I like both views because they are something easy to make for spring/summer pieces.

The Khaliah Ali pattern from Simplicity, I finally found it! I fell in love with the jacket & skirt view when I first saw it. I will make that soon and will look for fabric from my collection. The second pattern, I have a geometric fabric that I bought from Fabric Mart that I will use for the dress. The jacket will be a solid to coordinate.

I'm Back!!

I know I've been MIA, but I'm back! I've been sewing (not a lot) and can't wait to get back to my machine since I just came home last night from a short weekend trip to Atlanta. It was so good to get away for a few days. I feel refreshed and ready for Spring to come and stay here in the Midwest. I've been catching up on my favorite blogs and see that there are new patterns up on the Vogue and Simplicity sites. I'll have to check those out and see what should be added to my pattern stash :))
